Okay, you must all know by now how much I love Boots points events… I think I’ve blogged about it like 4 times now and this blog has only been up for about 3 months! [find those posts here, here, here and here!]
This tells us 2 very important things:
1) I’m a massive Advantage Card junkie…
2) Boots points events seem to roll around roughly once a month!
This affirms me in my buying strategy of never getting anything I’d get from Boots (soap, shower products, makeup etc) until there’s a points event on (unless that something is a gift and I therefore can’t just put it off).
Okay, so you must be thinking, if Boots Points Events aren’t all that rare (it could also be because it’s Christmas season soon!) what’s so special about this time?
It’s because over the next 5 days there’s going to be, not one, but two Points Events on!! Yep, you heard me! Isn’t that amazing?!
The first points event is only on Wednesday 30th Oct and Thursday 31st Oct, so basically you’ve only got today to head to it!
It’s an amazing ‘1200 for every £50 spent’ deal! Which basically translates to £12 of credit on your card, which kinda means you get about a 25% discount on everything!
It’s not every store that’ll be having this deal though, check the list of participating stores first, most of them have later opening hours, the Boots on Piccadily Circus is going to be open till midnight for this… talk about dedication to shopping.
Remember: This is 1200 for every £50, so if you’re spending £100 split it into 2 lots!!! If you’re spending £90, find something else to top up the extra £10 (it’ll be worth it) but not if you’re spending £70 (trust me, the math works out, heh).
You can also get this deal online but it’s 1200 points for £75, the ‘discount’ you’d get then is more like 15%. But if you know you’ll have no problem hitting that minimum spend and you definitely can’t make it to a store, then do take advantage of the online discount anyway.
The second points event a Triple Points Weekend this weekend, whow aren’t these events close together?!
It’s a 12 points per £1 spent after you hit £30! Basically, you’re getting 12p back for every £1 you spend so that’s a ‘discount’ of 12%. See, if you’re aiming to spend loads anyway (ie. £75 worth of stuff), it’s slightly better deal to take advantage of the online 1200 points deal!
This deal is available in all Boots stores and also online, but the online deal is for a minimum spend of £60, if you’re gonna spend £60 online you might as well hightail it to the 1200 points event today or just do the 1200 points event online! So let’s disregard this offer, shall we…
So, that’s quite a lot of info and it’s quite hard to decide which deal it better. I’ve taken the liberty of writing out what I think are your best shopping options depending on how much you think you’ll be buying (remember to keep an eye on the value of your basket as you shop so you don’t get a nasty surprise at the till!).
Spending Under £35 – Don’t bother with the 1200 Points event, just go for the 12points per £1 Triple Points Weekend.
Spending between £35 to £50 – If you can, try to get the 1200 points in-store today, 1200 points is £12 so you’re technically only spending £38, wnothich is far from what you intended to spend. If you can’t get it in-store, don’t try to hit the £75 for the online event, that’s too far off from your budget.
Spending between £50 to £60 – Buy £50 worth of stuff in-store tomorrow if you can and then get the additional £10 worth of things you want this weekend during the Triple Points Event. Ignore the online 1200 Points Event.
Spending between £60 to £70 – Buy £50 worth of stuff in-store tomorrow if you can and then get the additional £20 worth of things you want this weekend during the Triple Points Event. If you can’t get to a participating store, go for the online 1200 Points Event.
Spending between £70 to £100 – Top up to £100 if you can and do the 1200 Points event but divide your basket into 2 lots of £50, this gives you £24 of free product, you essentially spend about £76 for it. If you can’t get to a participating store today, definitely go for the online 1200 Points Event for up to £75 and then get the rest of your stuff in-store during the Triple Points Weekend.
Well, hope that very detailed and geeky calculation helped!! Feel free to ask any questions in the comments below 😉
